An energy audit is often the first step in making your home more efficient. It helps you evaluate what measures you can take to improve efficiency.
Buckeye REC's trained employees conduct energy audits to assist co-op members in efforts to control their electric bills through wise use and conservation. Energy audits involve detailed examination of account and usage history, an on-site inspection, and infrared imagery, when needed. In particular, an energy audit focuses on condition and operation of heating and air conditioning systems, ductwork, home appliances, insulation, caulking, windows and doors, and structural integrity.
Energy audits are conducted by appointment. It often takes 2-3 weeks for all data to be collected and assessed, and it is sometimes necessary to leave monitors and energy use recording devices connected for several days.
